Getting Involved
Before aquatic reserves can be formally designated, management plans must be developed with the input and involvement of stakeholders; citizens; and local, state and federal agencies. DNR's Aquatic Reserves Program has a long track record of identifying stakeholders and interested citizens at each site, and working with them to produce educational and technical materials that aid in evaluating each site for possible aquatic reserve designation.
Materials that DNR uses at public meetings at each site to foster public involvement include:
|
● |
Public Meeting Overview (288KB PDF) |
|
● |
State Aquatic Reserve Program Fact Sheet (163KB PDF) |
DNR has developed partnerships with citizen-science groups listed at right under Related Links.
